✦ About NovaDocs

Built for the people who sign contracts without lawyers.

Freelancers, founders, agencies, and small business owners. The 80% of operators who can't afford $700/month CLM tooling — but still need to know what's in the agreement before they sign.

Why NovaDocs Exists

Most contract software is built for legal teams. ContractSafe, Ironclad, Lexion, Juro — all credible products, all priced for organizations with dedicated counsel and $25K-$100K annual tooling budgets.

That leaves a gap. The freelancer reading a 30-page client MSA at 11 PM, the founder evaluating a vendor agreement before tomorrow's call, the agency catching red flags in a retainer — none of them have a legal department. Most don't have an attorney on retainer either. They have Google, ChatGPT, and the slow accumulation of horror stories from peers who learned the hard way.

NovaDocs is the contract intelligence layer for everyone in that gap. Free, no signup, instant analysis. Upload any contract → plain-English breakdown of every risky clause with concrete dollar exposure tiers and copy-paste negotiation language for what to send back.

The whole product is free because the audience can't afford enterprise tools — and because the alternative (signing without understanding) is far more expensive than the alternative we're displacing.

What We Believe

1
Plain English beats legal vocabulary every time.

If a freelancer can't understand a clause, they can't negotiate it. Most contract risks aren't hidden — they're just written in language designed for lawyers. Translation is half the battle.

2
Concrete numbers beat vague warnings.

"This clause could be expensive" is useless. "This clause typically costs $5,000-$50,000 if triggered, and here are the three negotiation asks that work" is actionable. We always give numbers.

3
Copy-paste language beats abstract advice.

Telling someone to "negotiate the indemnification cap" is not enough. Giving them the exact email response that gets the cap from their counterparty's legal team — that's the value. Every flagged clause comes with shippable language.

4
Privacy is non-negotiable.

Your contracts stay yours. We don't store uploads on our servers, we never use your contracts to train our own models, and our primary analytics (Plausible) is privacy-first and cookie-free. We also use Microsoft Clarity for conversion-rate diagnostics on public pages — it sets cookies and records on-page behavior to help us improve UX, but is intentionally NOT installed on the auth/signup flow or anywhere sensitive form input happens.

5
Free should mean free.

No "free tier with limits." No "free trial that asks for a credit card." No "sign up to see the analysis." Open the page, paste your contract, get the breakdown. Anything else is a friction tax we don't believe in.

Who Builds NovaDocs

NovaDocs is built by a small team of operators who've all been on the wrong side of a contract clause at some point in their careers. The product is shaped by every horror story we've collected from freelancers, founders, and small-agency owners — and every clause that ever cost any of us five-figure mistakes.

NovaDocs Editorial Team

We curate contract intelligence resources and build automated plain-English analysis for freelancers and small businesses. Our work draws on contract law fundamentals, SaaS agreement patterns, freelancer protections, vendor negotiation playbooks, IP assignment doctrine, indemnification scoping, non-compete enforceability case law, and the evolving FTC regulatory landscape for negative-option subscriptions and restrictive covenants. We're not attorneys and don't manually review your individual contracts — the product runs automated analysis based on these patterns, which you can validate and adapt with your own counsel.

What we're not

We're not a law firm. NovaDocs's analysis is educational and informational, not legal advice. For a binding legal opinion on your specific situation, hire an attorney in your jurisdiction. We're complementary to legal counsel, not a substitute. That said, NovaDocs catches the patterns 80% of contracts share — and for the 20% that need attorney-level review, NovaDocs gives you the framework to walk into that conversation prepared instead of confused.
